HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two men were sentenced in Herkimer County Court on Friday as a result of their conviction on weapons charges following a traffic stop in Schuyler a year ago.

Jayson Pulluaim, 37, originally of Ocala, Florida and was sentenced to three years in state prison with five-years post release supervision for his conviction of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Terrance Hines, 36, originally from Utica, was sentenced to one to three years in state prison for his conviction of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The two men were part of a trio stopped by a State Trooper on October 21, 2011 when the Trooper noticed their vehicle driving on Kilkenny Drive in Schuyler with the vehicle's headlights off. The troopers drove onto Kilkenny Drive and found the three men - Pulluaim, Hines and another man, Eugene D. James, 28 - parked in a van at the end of the road. Upon approaching the vehicle, one of the Troopers observed a rifle barrel protruding from under a scarf between the back seats. All three men were removed from the vehicle and a search was conducted. Inside the vehicle, authorities found a loaded SKS semi-automatic rifle and a loaded Beretta .32 caliber automatic handgun. A check of the handgun revealed it to be a stolen firearm from Montgomery County, Tennessee.

State Police said at the time of the stop, Pulluaim was on New York State Parole and Hines was on federal probation from previous charges. Authorities said all three were previously convicted felons.

Hines and Pulluaim were sent to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility, awaiting transfer to state prison.
