Utica woman injures Little Falls officer while resisting arrest

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica woman is facing numerous charges after allegedly injuring a Little Falls Police Officer as she tried to resist arrest.

According to Little Falls Police, Crystal Pontius, 25, of Utica has been charged with second-degree assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of marijuana.

On September 29, Little Falls Police officers responded to a report of a fight in front of 76 and 80 Furnace Street. While officers were on scene, police say Pontius kicked the contents of a garbage can onto police officers.

When the police tried to take her into custody, they say Pontius tried to pull her arms out of the handcuffs, dislocating the thumb of one of the officers in the process.

Pontius was arraigned and sent to the Herkimer County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.

She is scheduled to return to City of Little Falls Court at a later date.
