PHARSALIA, N.Y. - Authorities say they're investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in Chenango County but are not currently saying if it is connected to a missing persons case from the end of the year.

Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting says the body was found late Tuesday off Center Road in the Town Pharsalia. Cutting says at this time the woman's identity is unknown and officials will not speculate on whether or not there is a connection to the disappearance of Jennifer Ramsaran, 36, of New Berlin. Ramsaran was last seen leaving her home on the morning of December 11, 2012.

The body was found roughly 7.9 miles from where Ramsaran's cell phone was found on December 12.

The body has been taken to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office in Syracuse for an autopsy.
