LEE, N.Y. (WKTV) - James Newbill, 41, of Lee, was accused of threatening another person inside his Meadow Brook Drive home. When police responded to the domestic 911 call, Newbill was outside holding a long gun and threatening to kill himself. Newbill discharged the weapon into the air, refused commands to frop the gun, and then pointed the rifle at a state trooper. The trooper wounded Newbill in both hands.
After undergoing psychiatric evaluation and being declared fit to stand trial, Newbill accepted a guilty plea to four counts of menacing. Newbill is sentenced to three and a half years in prison and will be under post release supervision for two years.
