Nathan Dean, 32, of Nichols Street, Utica was arrested after allegedly getting into a heated argument with his girlfriend. When the girlfriend attempted to call the police with her cell phone, Dean grabbed it away from her and broke it in half. Dean is also accused of grabbing his girlfriend by the shirt collar, twisting it until she couldn't breathe. The girlfriend also claimed that Dean slammed her to the floor and onto a counter top.
The girlfriend sustained a laceration to her face and bruising to her back, arms and legs.
Dean is charged with the following:
-Criminal obstruction of breathing in the third degree
-Criminal mischief in the fourth degree (two counts)
-Harassment in the second degree.
