On May 3, 2011, Utica police officers observed a white male operating a moped on the 1000 block of Court Street, without license plates or lights on at night. Officers would conduct a traffic stop of the operator- Earl Schofield (Age 37, of Schuyler Street, Utica) on the moped. Officer Sean Bubnis would learned that Schofield's drivers license was suspended. Upon Officer Bubnis arresting Schofield, a search of his person revealed that he possessed "crack" cocaine and metal tube (AKA crack pipe) with residue on same. Schofield was charged with: =Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, =Aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree, =No insurance, and =Unregistered motor vehicle.
