On May 4, 2011, Utica Police responded to 929 Hillcrest Avenue, in regards to a 911 call for an assault. Upon the officers arrival the female caller told police that her child's father- Antonio Ward (age 22, of Genesee Street, Utica), threw a glass bottle against the wall, causing it to shatter. Pieces of the broken glass struck the complainant, who received several lacerations to her right arm. At the time of the incident the female victim had a valid order of protection in effect against Ward, directing him to refrain from any assaultive behavior towards the protected person. Ward was later taken into police custody and charge with: =Aggravated criminal contempt (class D felony) and =Assault in the third degree.
