On May 4, 2011, Utica police officers responded to 1506 Whitesboro Street, in regards to checking the welfare of children. Child Protective Services had received a complaint that the children's father- Matthew Krupa (age 31) was smoking marijuana while watching his four month old and three year old kids. While inside the apartment the police officers detected a strong odor of marijuana and observed several marihuana plants and marihuana paraphernalia. Krupa was taken into police custody and charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth degree. Child protective services were notified of the police findings and responded to the scene.
