Police: Forestport man attacks relatives at restaurant
BOONVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Forestport man was arrested and charged after attacking his estranged sister and brother-in-law at a restaurant in the Village of Boonville, according to local law enforcement. According to Village Police Chief James Galler, 37-year-old Charles Mooney of Forestport was arrested Saturday afternoon. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred Monday, March 18 when Mooney allegedly approached his estranged sister and brother-in law at the China Gourmet Restaurant on State Route 12, who were dining with their 16 and 17-year-old sons, according to police. Officials said Mooney approached the family and began yelling obscenities at them and became physically violent towards his brother-in-law when he was asked to leave. Mooney allegedly punched the man in the chest, spit at him and had to be taken out of the restaurant. Mooney was issued an order of protection and is no longer allowed to see those relatives. He is scheduled to answer to the charges in court.
