UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica man has been charged after what authorities say was three years of sexual abuse to a child. According to Oneida County Sheriff's Chief Obernesser of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, Heriberto Santos was charged on Friday with predatory sexual assault against a child. Authorities said the Advocacy Center received a report alleging that Heriberto Santos has been engaging in the sexual abuse of a child for the past three years. The investigation was handled by Detective Richard Galluppi of the Rome Police Department, currently assigned to the Advocacy Center and assisted by Investigator Melissa Bolton with the Oneida County Sheriff's Office. Chief Obernesser said the Child Protective Services worker and Victim Advocate also played a crucial role in assisting with the victim and the victim's family. Santos was arraigned in Utica City Court on Saturday morning and sent to the Oneida County Correctional Facility without bail. The case has been referred to the Oneida County District Attorney's Office for Grand Jury consideration. The victim has been offered counseling services through the Child Advocacy Center.
