State Police: More than 12 pounds of marijuana found at Pittsfield home

PITTSFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Pittsfield woman is facing charges after authorities say they found more than twelve pounds of marijuana being grown at her residence.

According to New York State Police, Donna Pickens, 55, of Pittsfield was charged with first-degree criminal possession of marijuana after an investigation and search of her home on Burski Road turned up 44 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. Authorities said they also found lamps, ballasts and other equipment used to grow marijuana indoors.

Investigators said they also discovered processed marihuana inside the residence.

The marijuana was located both inside and outside Pickens' house during a search on September 5.

Prior to charging Pickens, investigators dried and gleaned the marihuana from the stalks in order to determine the proper weight and level of crime to charge.

First-degree criminal possession of marijuana is a felony and is charged when a person possesses an aggregate weight of more than ten pounds of marihuana, authorities said.
