UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - After much discussion about whether to try them together or separately, two men accused in a Utica murder last year have decided to enter guilty pleas to other charges.

Octavious Garrett and Dominique Cook both faced a second- degree murder charge and gun possession charge in the shooting death of 24 year old Anthony Garner on James Street in May 2011.

Garrett pleaded guilty to manslaughter in exchange for a 15-year sentence.

Cook pleaded guilty to attempted murder in exchange for the same sentence.

Garrett will be sentenced January 4 while Cook will be sentenced January 18.

A man named Marshall Jackson has already been convicted for his involvement in Garner's death.
