WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Forestport man has been charged following an investigation into multiple accounts of stealing gas over the past year.

According to Whitesboro Police, Nicholas White, 34, of Forestport has been charged with several counts of petit larceny in connection with the string of gas larcenies that police say occurred at the gas station outside Kinney's Drug store in the Whitestown Shopping Plaza.

Over the course of 2011, police say White stole various amounts of gasoline from the store over the course of multiple occasions, totaling roughly $1,000 in value. Whitesboro Police said they have worked diligently over the course of the past year in trying to locate the suspect's vehicle. They say it took only one day of the video footage being broadcast and the vehicle was spotted by an Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy in the parking garage of the Radisson Hotel in downtown Utica.

White was then turned over to the Whitesboro Police Department where he was processed and released. He is set to appear in the Village of Whitesboro Court on January 24. Police say other gas larceny charges may also be pending at this time.
