Forestport man pleads not-guilty in shooting death of his wife

Larry Utter, the Forestport man accused of killing his wife last month pleaded not-guilty to his wife's death in an arraignment at Oneida County Court on Monday.

The former New Jersey man was indicted by an Oneida County Grand Jury on second-degree murder last week and is expected to appear in court again on July 29.

He is accused of intentionally shooting his wife, Stacey, and told police that he shot his wife accidentally. He was later arrested for shooting his wife twice with a pump-action shot gun..

Investigators said that law enforcement has responded to the residence twice in the last year for domestic incidents, but no arrests were ever made.

Family members told police that there had been recent domestic tension between the two and that Stacey had been staying elsewhere in the days before the incident.
