BARNEVELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A local football coach has been charged with grand larceny, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, Dale J. Sexton, 43, of Barneveld, was charged with third-degree grand larceny on Wednesday. The charge is the result of an investigation by the Oneida County District Attorney's Office into the alleged theft of money from an individual who had entrusted Sexton to pay outstanding medical bills on his behalf and then Sexton did not do so, Sheriff Maciol said.

Sexton is the head Varsity football coach for Holland Patent Central School.

Sexton was arraigned and sent to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or bond.

Sexton is scheduled to appear again in court on July 2, 2012 for further proceedings.
