NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - New Hartford Police are investigating whether or not two incidents involving a masked man demanding to be let into homes, are related.

According to police, the first incident happened around 9 p.m. on Tuesday night, when a homeowner on Paris Road heard a banging on their door and saw what appeared to be a masked man holding a gun. When the homeowner called police, the man fled.

Police said they had a similar incident around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning on Clinton Road near the Presbyterian Home. This time the homeowner told police that the masked man appeared to be carrying a stick, again demanding to be let in.

When officers arrived on the scene of both incidents, they found nothing and no one in the surrounding areas.

Authorities are not sure if the incidents are related.

"However, it is sort of a strange coincidence," said Officer Jarod Petrie said.
