SAUQUOIT, N.Y. (WKTV) - An investigation is underway after a senior prank that went too far at Sauquoit Valley High School.

New Hartford Police said at this time they could not comment on the ongoing investigation, but School Superintendent Ron Wheelock said police were handling the matter.

Superintendent Wheelock was also not at liberty to divulge many details regarding the incident due to its ongoing investigation status, but did say that there was a break-in to the school along with a large amount of vandalism.

The amount of damage is still not known and the school is still determining how much money it will cost to make repairs.

The Superintendent said that the school has always had its "senior prank" towards the end of the year, but that when it became a break-in and vandalism situation, it crossed the line.

Once the investigation is complete, it will be known what, if any, charges will be filed against those responsible as well as what internal disciplinary measures will be taken by school officials.
