Police: Hartwick couple cared for child while impaired by drugs, left needles within reach

HARTWICK, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Town of Hartwick couple is facing a multitude of drug charges and a child endangerment charge following a joint investigation between the New York State Division of Parole, the Oneonta Police Department, and the Otsego County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division.

On December 20, 2010, authorities searched the residence of Brad L. Anderson, 28, and Jennifer M. Anderson, 27, following information that was received the Oneonta Police Department indicating the couple were in possession of and using drugs.

During the search, small quantities of oxycodone powder, cocaine, marijuana, electronic scales, glassine envelopes and hypodermic instruments were all found at the residence. Authorities said The Andersons, who are presently on parole, were caring for their child while impaired by drugs, and left the drugs and needles within reach of the child.

The Andersons surrendered themselves at the Otsego County Sheriff's Office and were charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument, criminally using drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful possession of marijuana.
