Police: Three arrested after duct taping man at home, stealing valuables


OTEGO, N.Y. (WKTV) - New York State Troopers responded to a reported home invasion burglary on Monday, November 29 in Otsego County. Three men were arrested and charged following an investigation.

According to NYSP, the occupant reported that three individuals entered his residence at around 6:30 p.m. and demanded property. The three subjects physically assaulted the man and threatened him with a sawed off shotgun, while demanding valuables.

After stealing numerous items from within the home, the assailants used duct tape to restrain the man. The accused then fled the scene in an unknown vehicle with the stolen property and the weapon.

Three people were arrested following an investigation:
Joseph L. Amaro, 17, of Glens Falls
Andrew Bingham, 32, of Cooperstown
Tadd A. Sherwood, 23, Harpursville

The three were charged with burglary. Following their arraignments the subjects were sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000.

Numerous articles stolen from the residence, in addition to the shotgun have since been recovered by the State Police.
