Three charged in Otego home invasion

OTEGO, N.Y. (WKTV) - Three men are under arrest after being accused of burglarizing a man at gunpoint in his own home.

On November 29th, New York State Police responded to a home in the Town of Otego, Otsego County for a reported home invasion burglary. The occupant of the residence reported that he was at his residence at about 6:30 PM, when three individuals entered his residence and demanded property. The three subjects physically assaulted the complainant and threatened him with a sawed off shotgun, while demanding valuables.

After stealing numerous items from within the residence, the assailants used duct tape to restrain the complainant. The perpetrators then fled the scene in an unknown vehicle with the stolen property and the sawed off shotgun.

The investigation into this home invasion burglary led to the arrests of three individuals identified as: Joseph L. Amaro, 17, of Glens Falls, NY; Andrew Bingham, 32, of Cooperstown, NY; and Tadd A. Sherwood, 23, Harpursville, NY. All subjects were charged with the class B Felony of Burglary in the First Degree.

Following their arraignments the subjects were lodged at the Otsego County Correctional Facility in lieu of one hundred thousand dollars cash bail. Numerous articles stolen from the complainant in addition to the sawed off shotgun have since been recovered by the State Police.
