ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Rome Police Department will release new information Friday night in the homicide that left 20-year-old Jadreck Baker dead in the overnight hours of May 2.

According to Rome Police Detective Commander Timothy Bates, the department will hold a rare Friday night press conference at 9:00 at Rome City Hall.

20-year-old Jadreck Baker was fatally shot around 3:00 a.m. in the 100 block of East Bloomfield Street on May 2.

Authorities say the victim was approached by at least two other people in the road. One of the other men then shot Baker multiple times and fled the scene in a southerly direction.

State records indicate that Baker had a crime-filled past. According to the state Correctional Services, Baker was released from state prison as recently as February 2010. He was convicted of burglary and sent to the Clinton Correctional Facility in northern New York in November of 2006.

Records indicate that Baker was born in September of 1989, making him 16 years old at the time of imprisonment.
