Police: man who fled from Rome domestic incident hiding out in vacant apartment

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Rome man who authorities say fled the scene as they responded to a domestic incident has now been located, taken into custody and charged.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the Countryside Apartments on Route 69 in the City of Rome on Sunday, January 13 for a reported domestic dispute. Investigators say that upon the deputies' arrival, Stockbridge fled the scene.

Upon learning that Stockbridge was hiding out in one of the vacant apartments at the complex, authorities took him into custody on Wednesday morning.

He has been charged with two counts of first-degree criminal contempt, second-degree harassment, third-degree menacing and second-degree criminal trespass.

Investigators say it was also discovered that Rome Police Department had a bench warrant for Stockbridge for failure to pay a fine.

He was arraigned in Rome City Court and then committed to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,200 bail.
