Santoro indicted for escape from Oneida County Jail
ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Rome man facing charges for allegedly holding a woman captive and raping her was formally charged with another crime on Tuesday.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Department, John Santoro has been a less than model prisoner, often wearing netting over his face during court appearances because of his tendency to spit at people.
On Tuesday, an Oneida County Grand Jury indicted Santoro on a charge of first-degree escape.
Officials say he bolted from the Oneida County Jail last month and enjoyed about six to seven minutes of freedom before being taken back into custody.
Santoro will be arraigned in the next week or two.
