Town of Lee man charged after multiple stabbing at Rome house party

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Town of Lee man has been charged after Rome Police say he stabbed three people during a fight at a party in the early morning hours of Saturday, February 25.

According to Rome Police, officers responded to 304 Kossuth Street around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday for a report of multiple stabbing victims.

When authorities arrived on the scene, they found three adult individuals that they say had been stabbed as a result of an altercation and that the suspect - James A. Powell, 38, of the Town of Lee - had fled the scene on foot.

All three victims were transported to an area hospital where they were treated and released. Police said two of the victims were cooperative with the investigation and officers were able to locate Powell several blocks from the scene and he was taken into custody without incident.

The victims told police that a fight had broken out during a house party at the 304 Kossuth Street residence and during the struggle, they were stabbed.

Powell is now charged with two counts of second-degree assault and is currently being held in the Oneida County Correctional Facility.
