UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A 14 year old male has been charged with robbery after authorities say the boy, along with another male, assaulted a 71 year old woman and stole her purse.

According to Utica Police, around 11:10 a.m., officers responded to the area of Sunset Ave and Shaw Street where the 71 year old woman told officers she was walking and heard someone run up from behind her.

As she turned around to look, she said she was knocked to the ground by one male, and another stole her purse. Both males then fled the area, she told them.

She was able to describe the males as black males in their teens and gave officers a description of their clothing.

Officers assigned to the U.S. Marshal's NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, including UPD officers, observed two males fitting the description run into a home in the 1500 block of Sunset Ave.

After checking the area, officers located one male in a third floor apartment and also located the stolen purse in the back yard along with the victim's wallet.

Police said one suspect remains at large.

Investigators from the Juvenile Aid unit conducted an investigation and charged a 14 year old male with second-degree robbery.
