Arrest made in connection to Monday stabbing in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police have taken a man into custody in connection with a stabbing early Monday morning.

The arrest happened around 4 p.m. on Tuesday on Merriline Ave. Police say the victim of the stabbing, who was treated and released from the hospital on Monday, gave police a report that stated it was his neighbor, Jonathan McCurdy, 25, who stabbed him.

Authorities said McCurdy tried to run, but that he is now in custody and charged with second-degree assault.

The stabbing occurred around 2:06 Monday morning when officers responded to Gilmore Village on Hillcrest Ave in regards to a stabbing. Police said McCurdy stabbed another male in the chest area, but there is still no word as of this writing as to what the two men were fighting about that led to the stabbing.
