Birnie Bus driver facing sex abuse charges
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Birnie Bus driver from the City of Utica has been charged with sex abuse after an incident that authorities say happened earlier in the week. According to the Chief Deputy Dean Obernesser from the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, Abubakar Baharo has been charged following an investigation into a sexual assault of a child that occurred earlier this week on a Birnie Bus in the city of Utica. Authorities say the investigation was handled by Oneida County Sheriff's Sgt. Denise Luker and that Baharo was charged with first-degree sexual abuse. Baharo was arraigned in Utica City Court and remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 bail. The victim has been offered counseling services through the Child Advocacy Center.
