UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Utica woman has been charged after she was found in a stolen vehicle following a police pursuit. Police say that around 10 p.m. Sunday night, a woman left her vehicle parked in a lot on Welshbush Ave, unlocked and with the engine running. When the woman returned 20 minutes later, police said the car was gone. Around 3 a.m. Monday, UPD Officer Holt was patrolling the area of Neilson Street when he observed the stolen vehicle and attempted to pull it over. The vehicle fled, leading to a short police pursuit before the occupants of the vehicle pulled into a driveway on Howard Ave and the driver fled on foot. Police say a passenger in the vehicle, Vanessa Bennett, 25, of Utica, was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
