Police: Man put wife in choke-hold, dragged her around house

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Police say a neighbor intervened after a Utica man allegedly put his wife in a choke-hold and dragged her around the house.

According to Utica Police, officers responded to the 1000 block of Wager Street around 9:41 p.m. on Sunday for a 911 call of domestic violence.

Police said that it is alleged that Curtis Simmons, 36, placed his wife in a choke-hold by grabbing her from behind with one of his forearms and was dragging her around the house. Police said that when a neighbor intervened, Simmons let go of his wife.

Simmons has been charged with first-degree criminal contempt and criminal obstruction of breathing.
