UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Police are currently investigating a report of an armed robbery at the KeyBank on Genesee Street in downtown Utica around 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday. According to Utica Police, a white male, believed to be 5'8" and in his late 20s or early 30s, entered the bank and threatened the clerk, saying he was armed with a gun and demanding money. Police say the man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, heading west on Court Street. Authorities said the suspect was alongside 258 Genesee Street when a dye back in the stolen money exploded, presumably covering the man in red dye. Police say the dye does not wash off and that the suspect most likely has the dye on his hands and face. If you have any information regarding the robbery or the suspect seen in surveillance images, you are asked to call Utica Police at 315-223-3515. All calls will be kept confidential.
