Police: three people struck after shots fired at group of people in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Police say three people were struck after someone fired multiple rounds from a shotgun at a group of people on Nichols Street in the City of Utica early Tuesday morning.

According to Utica Police, around 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to the 500 block of Nichols Street for a report of shots fired. When they arrived at the scene, officers learned that someone had fired multiple rounds from a shotgun at a group of people, striking three people.

Police said the trio were treated at local hospitals and their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Utica Police say they are still interviewing witnesses and that no further information is available at this time.
