Police investigating theft of street signs from throughout Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica Police Department is currently investigating the theft of street signs throughout the city.

On Tuesday, the police were informed by a "Sign Shop" employee that street signs throughout the city are being stolen. Authorities believe the perpetrators may be persons who are in the scrap metal business and are taking the post and sign from the ground.

West Utica is where most of the signs are being taken, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the matter is asked to call the Utica Police Department at 315-534-1229.
