Pre-trial conference held in Mandia bigamy case

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The indictment was sealed until Thursday for a Sauquoit man charged with bigamy, who will now have more time to consider a plea offer.

Michael Mandia appeared in Oneida County Court Thursday for a pre-trial conference.

He is charged with bigamy, unlawfully procuring of a marriage license, and offering a false instrument for filing.

Mandia is due back in court on May 11, at which time he must accept or reject a plea offer.

Details of the offer are not being released.

Mandia is accused of being married to two women at the same time. According to his attorney, Mandia thought he was legally divorced when he re-married in 2006.
