Pursuit for traffic violation ends with crash involving stolen car

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two people are in custody and authorities are tracking down a third following a police pursuit that ended in a car crash in Utica involving a stolen car.

State Police say that the car was in the City of Utica when authorities attempted to pull it over for traffic violations of speeding and going through a red light. As troopers pursued the vehicle, they realized that it had been reported stolen to the Utica Police Department.

The chase ended when the stolen vehicle was involved in a one-car accident on Noyes Street in Utica, just before where Noyes intersects with the arterial.

In terms of the third suspect still begin sought, authorities said they knew who they were looking for.

State Police are leading the investigation, but Utica Police, Yorkville Police, and New Hartford Police were all assisting at the scene.

State Police said they will release more information when it becomes available.
