UPD: About 100 people involved in fight in front of Utica bar

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police spent a portion of the overnight dealing with a large fight of about 100 people on Genesee Street Friday night into Saturday.

According to the Utica Police Department, about 100 people were gathered infront of the Chatterbox Bar near the intersection of Genesee Street and Bank Place. A fight broke out and officers attempted to break it up.

Back-up police units responded and several people were taken into custody for various offenses.

Later on, Utica Police responded to St. Elizabeth Medical Center to investigate an injury that allegedly stemmed from the fight.

The unnamed female victim sustained a deep laceration as a result of the assault. Police arrested 22-year-old Duchane Boyd of Oneida Street in Utica and took him into custody. He is charged with assault and possession of marijuana.

Several other people were taken into custody:

- Marvin Dawkins (age 29) of Mattydale
Charges: Harassment and Resisting Arrest

- Olivia Oliver (age 24) of Hillcrest Avenue
Charges: Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest

- Joshua Mims (age 19) of Douglas Street, Syracuse
Charges: Disorderly Conduct

- Justin Wright (age 27) of Mountainview Avenue, Syracuse
Charges: Disorderly Conduct
