UPD: Traffic stop leads to drug arrests in West Utica
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A traffic stop in West Utica early Saturday evening led to several charges against the car's occupants, including drug charges.
According to the Utica Police Department, an officer pulled over a car around 7:00 p.m. in the area of Schuyler and Noyes Streets.
Police say that the driver of the car, 43-year-old Allen Clarke, was determined to be driving with a suspended driver's license and registration, inadequate taillights, and no vehicle insurance.
Clarke was founded to be in possession of a smoking device with marijuana inside, synthetic marijuana and the controlled substance known as “Diazepam” without a legal prescription, UPD reports.
During the traffic stop, police also discovered a hand-rolled marijuana cigarette burning in one of vehicle’s occupant's pockets.
The marijuana belonged to 21-year-old Christopher Kraszewski, authorities said. He was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
Two back seat passengers, a 18-year-old male and 17-year-old female were released without charges.
Clarke was charged with numerous vehicle and traffic law misdemeanors and criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance outside the original container, unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of synthetic drugs.
