30 new jobs to be created as Ioxus moves into former Soccer Hall

ONEONTA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The former Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta will be seeing a new tenant, and with it at least 30 new jobs.

Technology manufacturer Ioxus is now leasing the former Hall of Fame building on Stadium Circle in Oneonta and is looking for what they call "the best and the brightest of the area" to join their ranks. 30 new jobs, mostly all degree and professional positions, will be created and in need of hires, and officials say they are only the first wave of jobs to come out of the expansion.

Company officials said Ioxus is currently taking bids from contractors and after a contractor is selected, will begin interior construction on the site. They expect that construction to begin in early February.

The company builds products that are used in everything from hybrid buses, to high efficiency cars and lighting, and even wind turbines.

Ioxus will hold a job fair from 4 to 8 p-m on January 27 in the lobby of the former soccer hall of fame building.

Ioxus signed a lease at the end of December with the Otsego County Development Corporation, a non profit that was given the building and grounds by the Hall after it shut down roughly one year ago. The title was transferred from the Hall to Ioxus and then the Oneonta Town Board approved the zoning change needed to include industrial use for the land.
