Arc Oneida-Lewis voices State Budget concerns to legislators

By NEWSChannel 2 Staff

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Some local state lawmakers gathered Friday morning at the Arc Oneida-Lewis County in Utica for breakfast.

The organization held what it calls a "thank you breakfast for our legislators.'

Under Governor Andrew Cuomo's proposed budget, the Arc would lose six percent or 1.2 million in state funding.

On Friday, Senator Joe Griffo and Assemblymembers Claudia Tenney and Anthony Brindisi all told the very concerned workers at the Arc that they are fighting for them, and have actually restored their funding in their versions of the budget.

If the Governor's cuts go through next week, jobs would be lost and services would be cut.

The Governor wants a budget passed early, by next Thursday, March 21, a full ten days before it's due on April 1.

Senator Griffo told the crowd the legislators should know more on this issue late Monday or early Tuesday.
