By WKTV News

ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Plans are now in place to help the almost 500 Orion workers who are currently unemployed or will be unemployed in the next year get back to work.

From claiming unemployment benefits to looking for a new job, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente says there are resources available every step of the way.

"It's a real difficult time and we know that," said Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente. "We just want them to know we are concerned, we want to make sure they stay and we can find them new employment especially in the months ahead."

Picente said he has been working with Premier Aviation and Midair USA both located in Rome. The companies are looking to hire new employees with similar skill-sets as workers from Orion.

For people looking to be trained in a new career field, MVCC is offering free IT training and cyber security classes through August.

Also, the New York State Department of Labor and Working Solutions are offering help at the Oneida County Traffic Safety Department in Oriskany.

They will help you file an unemployment claim, critique youR resume and cover letter, and help you figure out which of your skills will be transferrable to another career.

You can stop in this week and next week from 3 p.m. To 6 p.m.
