Congressman Hanna hosts small business workshop in Rome

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - In an effort to keep cash flowing into central New York, Congressman Richard Hanna hosted a "how to" of sorts for local business owners on Monday.

50 small business owners headed back to the classroom Monday at the Griffiss Institute in Rome, all with the desire to to learn how to score big bids on government contracts worth billions of dollars.

Congressman Hanna's goal is for a chunk of the nation's defense spending to land here in the region.

"Hopefully, I hear some day that someone actually got a job out of it, whether its construction, medical, computers, everything you can imagine," Congressman Hanna said.

Hanna says $535 billion in government contract money is available each year.
