Marcy nanotech site and expansion of AIS, Inc in Rome discussed at MV EDGE meeting

MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV) - A nanocenter in Marcy was the topic of a Mohawk Valley EDGE meeting on Tuesday at the Radisson Hotel in Downtown Utica.

The agency meets quarterly to discuss all business in Oneida County, and on Tuesday's agenda was a progress report of a new road into the SUNYIT campus.

Mohawk Valley EDGE Executive Director Steve DiMeo says that development to the site will continue and that the organization is confident a nanotech business will find a home in Marcy.

"We are looking at this as the long haul," DiMeo said. "We remain very confident. If you look at what is happening in New York State with this industry, there has been $8 billion in public and private investment made within this industry in New York State as a global R&D hub."

Also at Tuesday's meeting, Assured Information Security announced plans to expand to a 46,000 square foot facility on the Griffiss base in Rome.
