Businesses learn to develop their exporting capabilities

By By KARI CRIMMINS

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - On Wednesday at Mohawk Valley Community College, manufacturers and service providers learned how to develop their exporting capabilities.

Some of the topics covered included international legal issues and the role a business' banker plays in the process.

Richard Paul, one of the seminar's speakers, says that there's one obstacle that keeps many businesses from expanding overseas.

"They're afraid to take reasonable risks," Paul said. "There's fear, and they don't want to take risks. You can become more active without taking significant additional risks and you use the people that are here to help you do that."

The seminar was hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
