Genesee Street businesses to see renovations from Restore NY grants

By By JOLEEN FERRIS

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The City of Utica is in line to receive $2.1 million in Restore New York grants from New York State, and business owners gathered with city and state leaders on Thursday near the downtown businesses that will benefit from the money.

The businesses at 170-172 Genesee Street will be able to renovate and, in some cases, add jobs, thanks to the money.

"We currently have been hiring engineers," said Milissa Benincasa, Vice-President of Black River Systems. "It will allow us office space for those engineers and staff, and it will give us additional lab facilities we need as well."

The Winston Building, Black River Systems, and Classic Catering will all be able to renovate thanks to the grant.
