ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The deadline has come, and the numbers are in. Oneida County offered a retirement incentive to eligible workers, and as of Wednesday evening, 62 people are looking at a $15,000 payoff.

If up to 49 people signed up, they'd receive a $10,000 payoff; 49 to 99 people, the payoff would be $15,000 dollars; and if 100 people or more signed up - $20,000 dollars.

County Executive Anthony Picente says it'll be hard to gauge the exact savings, but they estimated if 100 people took the offer, it could've been as high as $2 million.

"So they're at a very high level of pay for their particular position if they have that many years in to retire," Picente said. "So, when they retire you're shedding anywhere from 20 to 30 percent or better or their pay scale by the people that would replace them."

Picente will have a better idea of the exact savings by Monday morning at 10 a.m.- - when he presents his budget proposal to the legislature.
