Students encouraged to fill out financial aid forms despite bad economic news
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Did you know it is Student Financial Aid Awareness month?
The State Higher Education Service Corporation came up with the idea to remind students and parents to start the application process early. Experts at the Utica School of Commerce said most college students are eligible for grants, scholarships and loans. They also said not to be discouraged by the negative economic news you see and read. "It's more of an issue now," Fred Zuccala, Director of Student Aid at USC said. "With the headlines, state and federal budget cuts, I think a lot of people may think that the financial aid is not there anymore. So, what we're trying to do is make sure students are aware that there is financial aid available and to get that financial aid, they have to go through the process."
