Congressman Owens talks jobs in City of Oneida

By WKTV News

ONEIDA, N.Y. (WKTV) - With 200,000 jobs filled nationwide last month, one congressman says he is looking to keep that momentum.

Democratic Congressman Bill Owens was back in his district on Monday, making a stop at the Working Solutions Career Center in the City of Oneida. Owens said he learned there are jobs available in the area (many of which can be found through Working Solutions via the WKTV Back 2 Work web section) and that he believes it is a matter of motivating people to apply to get back to work.

"Those jobs will lead to more," Congressman Owens said. "What these manufacturers are saying...if we can fill these ten jobs, we could then have the confidence to fill the next ten. There is actually more jobs out there then the unfilled jobs that are currently on record here."

Congressman Owens invited people to SUNY Morrisville for a town hall meeting later on Monday evening. The doors open at 6 p.m., but the meeting began at 6:30 p.m.
