DSW opens in Sangertown Square Mall

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Local shoe lovers are smiling ear to ear as of Thursday as DSW opened their doors in the Target wing of Sangertown Square Mall.

Row after row of shoes, sneakers and boots for women and men are ready for shoppers. Up until now, Carousel Center in Syracuse was the closest location of a DSW store.

Foot traffic was pretty brisk on Thursday in the Sangertown Square store, just minutes after the doors opened.

Store Manager Michael Hamm has every reason to believe it's going to stay that way.

"The phone has been ringing off the hook and actually when we took the tarp down a few days ago, people were walking in while the windows were getting cleaned, thinking we were open," Hamm said. "We're like, 'no, we're not open til Thursday,' so yes, a lot of interest."

The store also has a clearance section and a rewards program which brings coupons to frequent shoppers.
