Jackson Furniture to stay in the family as owner retires

By LEXIE O'CONNOR

BOONVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - After five decades of working in Boonville's Jackson Furniture, owner David Jackson is retiring.

The family-owned business has been in Boonville for more than a century, and David Jackson is the third generation of owners. He worked in the store when his grandfather and father owned it, and while he's now ready to retire, the store will remain in the family as he hands it down to his son.

"Well, I've always enjoyed the business, personally and the personal relationship and the challenge of their needs and that's been the fun of it," David Jackson said. "It keeps you going, keeps you interested in it."

The store was rebuilt after a fire in 2001, and David and his son say the new building is a perfect fit for the family's plans to stay in business for years to come.
