Local Friendly's restaurants remain safe amid 37 closings nationwide

Local Friendly's restaurants are safe following an announcement by the company that 37 locations would be closing nationwide.

Each store employs roughly 20 people, leading to a nationwide estimate of roughly 740 jobs lost.

The closings come as Friendly's emerges from Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.

The only New York State closings are in the Albany area.

A spokesman for the company tells NEWSChannel Two that the decision was necessary and some of the employees will be moved to other locations if possible.
