MV Chamber of Commerce welcomes new Holiday Inn Express

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce celebrates the addition of a brand new business in North Utica.

A grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday morning at the new Holiday Inn Express. The hotel boasts a fitness center, pool and computer center, with rooms overlooking the harbor on Wells Avenue just off North Genesee Street.

It's part of the Visions Hotels chain, which actually owns the Hampton Inn nearby.

The general manager is excited about what the hotel has to offer. "We have our free hot breakfast from 6 to 10 everyday," said General Manager Lee Arther. "Free wi-fi, free parking. Everything is included our coffee is 24 hours and it's just a clean hotel with everything you can use."

The executive director of the Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce Pamela Matt says it is a great day for Utica. "I think it's going to be great for businesses in the area. There's a lot along the street and it's' a Holiday Inn Express. You can come in, it's economical, it's got a lot of efficiencies. I just saw the new pool, the fitness center, great food."

Right now there are 12 people on staff, there could be more added in the spring at the start of busy season.
